Title: xds100v3 problems
Post by: stacklakeoy on June 03, 2024, 09:46:44 AM
Hello,

I am having problems with Olimex xds100v3+ Rev.E . I must be doing something very fundamentally wrong, so lets start with wiring. How should I connect these wires and should I be specifically using a 14-pin or 20-pin "TI connector"?

Connect the dots for me so I can try it out.(http://m.asuka.fi/uploads/xds100v3plus_pinout_question.jpg)

What is your target chip and target board exactly? We need the schematic to be able to recommend what connector to use. Maybe if it is custom-made board share the programming connector diagram - upload the picture somewhere and give us the link to see it.

It is a custom design. I'll ask my customer if I can share more. Chip is tms320f2803x. I'll get back to you.

Meanwhile we notice that we have a board with similar chip, maybe use it as basis. This board has 14-pin TI layout JTAG connector:

Check these instructions on how we connect XDS100v3 to it:

Ok, here is as much I was permissed to share:

What do I do? What should I connect? I was able to use Elpotronic FlashPro2000 programmer via the sister connector X101, but after experimenting R148 I think I fried the board. I need to switch to another one. But like something was working becaue ELpotronic was fully working. What should I do with XDS100V3+ now?

You should use jumper wires or bread board to manually establish connection. That JTAG  X7  connector is non-standard pinout, you need to use individual wires for the JTAG connection. Standard connector can be seen:

https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/xdsdebugprobes/emu_jtag_connectors.html

Neither of the listed connectors have TCK on pin 2/3 - TDI on pin 6 and TMS on pin 7, etc....
