serial communication on uart 0

hi everyone,

i want to connect a serial device with a13 wifi board's uart0 port.
but is it possible to connect a device on uart 1 port.
but uart 1 is a console , so i am not able to use it as a serial communicator with my other device.
Actually i want to control a device that understands only serial communication.
so what should i do.
