I wonder if someone has already used some OLIMEX card running Android, using a camera and an LCD display?
What is the best card to meet this need?

Hello there,

The ready-to-use Android images for our Allwinner boards have support for 7 (and/or 10 inch display) LCD display. The display video output wouldn't be a problem.

Regarding the camera: most popular USB web-cameras should work hardware-wise. The software is the harder part but there are some apps for USB cameras that might be able to do the job.

I tested with the only USB camera I have here and an application I downloaded from the Google Play. The setup worked fine! I received the 640x480 picture without problems and I was able to record video. The camera I used is A4Tech PK-836F (http://www.a4tech.com/product.asp?cid=1&scid=1&id=759). The application I used is called UsbWebCamera (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.serenegiant.usbwebcamera&hl=en).

I would recommend a board with Allwinner A20 since due to its computing power. The Olimex products with A20 processors are already mature enough. Consider boards like A20-OLinuXino-MICRO-4GB; A20-OLinuXino-LIME-4GB; A20-OLinuXino-LIME2-4GB; A20-SOM-EVB

Thank you very much LubOlimex the answer.

Although the Olimex could provide a OSHW hardware for cameras.

I'll still buy a "A20-OLinuXino-MICRO-4GB." I'll still try to see any camera that I can connect directly on the board without the need for USB.
