Recording sound using MOD-MP3-X

Has anyone (aside from the designers of this module) managed to get this device to record? If so, would you please be so kind as to share your wisdom. I am a little perplexed by this device, and would be grateful if the developers (or anyone else for that matter) would add some additional technical information, such as:

1. Controlling via Arduino (since many people it seems are trying to link the two)
2. Basic control of the device using some examples (we're not all engineers here)
3. Some connectivity diagrams for linking to different platforms (e.g. Arduino again)
