Hi,

I would like to make a DSL-modem+router+WiFi-AccessPoint from an A13 (+ some home automation stuff but about this part in another thread...) with Debian inside. My questions are:
1. will it work as stable and fast as a regular router?
2. if yes, which hardware components do I need and where can I buy them? (I prefer to buy as much as possible from Olimex). Especially what DSL modem will you recommend (I need to have at least one Ethernet port at the end - for plugging my PC)?

Thank you in advance,

I was told by my ISP that they provide an Ethernet DSL modem, so now I need A13 to get a proper Ethernet port (not a Ethernet-USB converter) . 1) Is there such a module? How fast/stable is it?
2) Is there a tutorial how to turn A13-WiFi into an Access Point?

Thank you.

You can use hostapd. I managed to create an access point using hostapd, but I could not connect to it. It seems the problem is the driver from Realtek.  :o In this requirement, the Atheros modems or Broacom are better. Look here: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers

To use ethernet would be better to use the A10 or A10S, because it is already built.

check this - maybe it is relevant, tell us whether it helped.

Is it possible to use other modems than provided by A13-WiFi? Where do I get them and how do I connect them? Did you use a dongle or built in Wifi from A13-Wifi?

I couldn't find A10 or A10S on the olimex site... could you, please, post links on those boards?

Thank you.

Yes. You could use the tp-link TL-WN721N, for example. I use TL-WN822N, but is more expensive. But if you intend to make a product, you should make a wifi module like this https://www.olimex.com/Products/Modules/Ethernet/MOD-WIFI-RTL8188/. In this case you need to have the schematic. Search, for example, 'atheros wifi module'.

Olimex' board A10S and A10 are not ready.
