LIME2, how to tell if it works/has power?

Hi all,

I've just received a new LIME2 and would like to check if it works at all. I had wanted to power it via USB from a regular PC port for now, but I can't get any reaction, LED stays dark, nothing on the serial cable. Same result for a USB charger. I don't have a 5V wall wart.

What should it "do", when it gets power via USB?
Should normal male A to male mini-B cables work at all or does "OTG" require a special cable?

The manual & schematic show a power LED and tell you the power & cable needs.

Beyond that, use a bootable uSD.

For in-depth info see linux-sunxi.org, datasheets, etc.

no leds light up when you use the OTG port to power the board, except for the leds on the Ethernet port but you have to connect to a network then, but don't expect it to work connecting the board to a USB port from a PC, you need at least 1A to make it work

For posterity:
- When the board is powered via USB, no (LED) indication will be given.
- The board will not do *anything* without a bootable SD card, not even output some info on serial console.
- Power via USB works fine, why shouldn't it? The manual says *up to* 650mA, that's well within the limits of a powered USB port in practice. My RPi1 runs off an USB port including a USB EnOcean transceiver and the LIME2 reportedly draws a bit less, even.
