Hello there,

I can confirm that MSP430-CCRF works with

http://www.ti.com/tool/smartrftm-studio

But notice that this is true only with TI JTAGs (not Olimex ones).

I have reasons to believe the case with Simpliciti is the same since it officially supports CC430 also.

I couldn't get the link_to/link_listen application that comes with SIMPLICITI to download to the board. The app compiles ok, but never downloads to the board. No error messages, it just freezes.

I really need SIMPLICITI to work with these boards. Please help.

Hello there again,

Could you please tell me exactly what tools (both hardware and software) are you using? Is it possible to test the IAR projects located in \Projects\Examples\CC430EM?

I am using this Texas Instrument JTAG programmer: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MSP-FET430UIF
I am using IAR V5.50.2
Quote"Is it possible to test the IAR projects located in \Projects\Examples\CC430EM?"
It is the project that I am testing. It compiles ok, but refuses to download to the MSP430-CCRF board.

The CC430EM project works fine when I download it to the development boards I got from TI, EM430F5137RF900: CC430F5137 Wireless Development Tool

Note: I am able to compile and download to the Olimex board the blink LED example that you have on the Olimex website.

Please feel free to ask any questions if I were not clear in my answers above.

I am starting to lose confidence in the MS430-CCRF board. The same board will download the application one time, and refuse to download it the next time!! very erratic!!!
I am using MSP-FET430UIF for a programmer, IAR v5.50.2 and the RF_Connection_Toggle_LED application that I downloaded from the Olimex website, unchanged.

I don't have the board connected to any battery. It is powered from the JTAG programmer.

The board seems to function much better now after I powered it from a 9V battery. I wish Olimex included the proper power connector with the board. It would save your customers lots of frustration.

Hello lyassa,

Glad you managed to solve the situation. Can you confirm that increasing the input voltage increased the stability of the board?

Yes, powering the board from an external 9v battery solved the problems I had. I am now able to program the board using both CCS and IAR. It is also compatible, to some extent with the examples that came with SIMPLICITI. The radio functions work great, however, the LED and the button are not compatible with the examples. I will need to modify the header files. Hope that will not take much effort to figure out.

I'm not familiar with MSP-FET430UIF but from the log above it is seen that your JTAG power the board with 1.8V instead with 3.3V which MSP430-CCRF require, so when you added the external vltage you run the board with proper power supply
