Hello,

we like the olimex hardware but we don't like that there are custom linux images for the various boards with custom kernels, etc. we would prefere to be able to use standard unmodified mainline linux kernels (e.g. debian distribution) to make sure there are quick fixes for security issues, etc. available.

For ARM servers the Arm SystemReady standard (https://www.arm.com/architecture/system-architectures/systemready-certification-program) is very popular to standardize the boot process/interface. It's also available for general embedded devices.

Are there any plans to make some boards compliant to the Arm SystemReady standard?

We have no such plans at the moment. No. But we might consider it in future.

All sources for our Linux images are published at GitHub and available for anyone to see (you don't even need a purchase to study our Olimage images). Nothing shady or hidden. Differences with original source are easy to spot since we have only two developers that commit in these repos. I recommend you to check this document on Olimage images:
