Just got my Olimexino-5510 and very happy, but can't figure out how to program it from Energia IDE. There no 'Olimexino' in the board selection list in the current Energia distro. And programming via USB BSL HID. Seems it needs some additional configuration files?

I found a post "How can I download the IAR examples into the board?" (https://www.olimex.com/forum/index.php?topic=337.0) and attempted 'USB firmware updater tool provided by TI' - BSL_USB_GUI.exe from msp430usbdevpack. It didn't works:

Get it working with Code Composer Studio MSP430F5510 examples.
1. Compile code (get ELF *.out file)
2. C:\ti\ccsv5\tools\compiler\msp430_4.1.2\bin\hex430.exe --ti_txt ...\ccs_workspace_v5_3\MSP430F55xx_1\Debug\MSP430F55xx_1.out (get MSP430F55xx_1.txt)
3. Run BSL_USB_GUI.exe from msp430usbdevpack and 'Upgrade Firmware' with MSP430F55xx_1.txt.

Is there an ETA for the support of the Olimexino-5510 by Energia?

Hello,

regarding your question, there isn't an ETA. You can take a look at the github reposotory, we have sent some files for olimexino5510(pins etc.) to the developers and they have added theirs too, but the next version of the IDE is still in development.
As for uploading code to the board, you can use a converter to make ".txt"(TI standart) files from the hex files Energia outputs and use the firmware updater TI provides to upload the code. BUT, this is only if you can actually compile something for the olimexino-5510 with the current version of Energia as there are a lot of core files that need to be edited. I'd advise you to wait for an official release of Energia, which supports olimexino-5510.

Hello,

Is there any progress in Olimexino MSP430-T5510 support in Energia ?

Best regards

LubOlimex

Hello jlb,

At the moment there is no built-in support for OLIMEXINO-5510 and MSP430-T5510 in Energia. Such support was scheduled long time ago – please check here: https://github.com/energia/Energia/issues?milestone=9&state=open but the milestone is still open. There was a lot of positive feedback for the board a year ago, but none of  the contributors added support. Forum threads on the subject: http://forum.43oh.com/topic/1750-olimexino-5510/ and http://forum.43oh.com/topic/2464-expanding-device-support-for-energia/

At the moment there are three ways to program the board:

1) you still might program the board via the built-in bootstrap loader – navigate to this web-page: http://software-dl.ti.com/msp430/msp430_public_sw/mcu/msp430/MSP430_USB_Developers_Package/latest/index_FDS.html and at the bottom there is application called "MSP430_USB_Firmware_Upgrade_Example-1.3.0-Setup.exe" download and install it and you can upload binaries to the board via the USB
2) if you have a launch pad or other Energia-supported board you can use as a programmer and program OLIMEXINO-5510 and MSP430-T5510 via Spi-bi-Wire (SBW).
3) if you have a stand-alone MSP430 programmer/debugger you can use OLIMEXINO-5510 and MSP430-T5510 as a general-purpose board (again program it via SBW)

I use "MSP430_USB_Firmware_Upgrade_Example-1.3.0-Setup.exe" because there are no drivers that lets anything recognize the device...

Where are the Windows drivers for this board?  Does WindowsXP come with them by default?  Where do i get them?

Ok never mind had to hold down a special usb button for it to connect.
Now I can upload the Blink light example that comes with "MSP430 Firmware Updgrade Example 1.3.1".
But what tools do I use to build my own firmware for this device??  The firmware upload tool wants ".txt" files not ".hex" files.

Ok figured out you can build with "Code Compositor Studios" from TI.
Then you can build the .txt file and upload it with there Firmware update tool
